A Note From Kim... Happy New Year 2011

Image source: Sweet! Cupcakes & Treats

I had planned a feature on some of our favourite moments from 2010 from the blog, but just couldn't manage to choose a favourite dress, bridal bouquet, etc... Every single wedding featured on Portobello Bride represents something we love about our Boutique Wedding Guide members and the weddings they are part of.

Instead I want to take this moment to reflect not on the past but what lies ahead. 2011 is going to be the biggest and most exciting year for Portobello Bride yet! In March, 26 and 27, will be the first ever Portobello Bride Boutique Wedding Market in Melbourne's St Kilda Town Hall. Tickets go on sale tomorrow! Then, in August we will launch the Market in Sydney at Paddington Town Hall on August 27 and 28.

We will begin next week with introductions to our stallholders for the Melbourne Boutique Wedding Market, we cant wait for you to see who will be there!

Oh and be sure to subscribe to the blog and site this year, we will be featuring many more beautiful weddings  from our Boutique Wedding Guide members, many pages of inspiration, competitions and so much more.

I invite you to come along with us on the journey, it won't be the same without you!

A Note From Kim... It's all in the planning

What a lovely way to start the week. Our first advertisement announcing the gorgeous members of our Boutique Wedding Guide is in the new Bride To Be Wedding Planner Annual. Yipee!
Just in time for the launch of Francesca's Style Guide and some wonderful new additions to our website in the coming month.

A Note from Kim... New Year, New Home, New Beginnings!

I know it's the cardinal sin of blogging to let it go so long between posts. I am truly sorry and feel pretty confident in saying it won't happen again. I cannot see myself ever moving home two days before Christmas whilst trying to get a website launched again (it will be this century I promise).

So here we are already at the end of January and I can finally say I have succeeded in one thing so far this year. I wish it was the launch of the website,  I have everything crossed for next week, but maybe more importantly, well at least to hubby & I,  is that our children are settled in their new home and are all enjoying their summer in the country.
It has taken me a little longer, maybe because of everything else that is happening, but this morning when I came home from my walk it hit me, well more to the point tripped me! A gorgeous vision of bright Havianas at my doorstep, belonging to my daughters and I,  made me feel at home. I got a lump in my throat and for the first time this year felt a sense of peace and gratitude in the knowledge that everything is fabulous and going to be alright.

Proving I'm a child of the eighties, the song "wherever I lay my hat" came into my head and I have decided our version is " wherever I lay my thongs... thats my home" .

Happy belated new year every one, I know its going to be a special one.

A Note From Kim... Spring 2010, Paris RTW -cont.

Continued from yesterday are my favourites for Spring 2010 from the recent RTW shows.

I love the new direction Valentino is taking under the helm of design duo Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli. You will notice there wasn't a red dress in sight!

The tones throughout the collection are so pretty and romantic, perfect for you wedding party.

And to finish with a few from Christian Dior & Sonia Rykiel who have taken old hollywood glamour to a gorgeous new level.

A Note From Kim...Spring 2010, Paris RTW -Continued.

Collette Dinnigan designed her spring 2010 by channeling the ever curious muse Alice in Wonderland. Whatever her inspiration the collection is just perfect for a Spring Wedding!

Reem Acra's Spring 2010 collection was shown earlier in September, but I couldn't pass up showing off the beautiful floral prints, drapery, and fluidity of her collection. I found it surprisingly fresher and younger than previous collections. I love it!

Tomorrow we will feature Valentino & more.
