Engagement Mexican Cake Trio by Cake Ink

A gorgeous Mexican bird bunting from super-talented NZ design house Citta Design was the inspiration behind this fresh and summery cake table put together for a recent outdoor engagement fiesta by the amazing duo of Portobello Bride Member Cake Ink. Three coordinated cakes decorated with hand made large sugar roses and rustic piping were the focal point against an airy aqua and white backdrop. Refreshing iced tea accompanied the rich slices of cake. Guests took home a bar of hand made soap which were wrapped in beautiful floral fabric, held together with custom matching labels as a party favour.

The colours are so spectacular - so fresh, bright, Summery and festive!

The simple styling really lets the patterns and colours sing!

Gorgeous!

[The bird bunting, tea towel and napkins are all from Citta Design]

What a fun, but stylish way to celebrate an engagement! This could also be a great theme for a Bridal Show, Couple's Shower, or even a rehearsal dinner!

A big thank you to Janelle and Samone for sharing their amazing work with us! See more of their gorgeous styling on the Cake Ink Blog.

Portobello Bride Featured Wedding: Kim & Chris by Janine Kaye Photography

There is always excitement when photos of a new wedding are received from one of our wonderful Portobello Bride Boutique Wedding Guide Members, but I [Amanda] must admit I was extra excited when I saw this wedding sent to me by Janine of Janine Kaye Photography as it turns out the Groom and I studied Graphic Design together!

Kim and Chris are a gorgeous couple, so sweet, genuine and down-to-earth and I am so pleased to see that comes across in their casual but elegant wedding. Both Kim and Chris are creative, she creates unique jewellery and he is a Graphic Designer, so there is no surprise that the details of this wedding are superb! I especially love the subtle rustic, Australiana vibe that underlies the event! Let's take a look at some of the fabulous images Janine captured:

Kim's beautifully casual bouquet of Australian native blooms.

Beautiful Summery bridesmaids and flower girl dresses.

The stunning bride! Kim chose a wedding dress that was similar in style to her late Mother's wedding dress.

The spunky groom!

Happy moments!

The soft colour of the bridesmaid's dresses compliments the earthy tones of this wedding superbly!

The couple were photographed at Little Austi beach and among some picturesque bushland.

Love this photo!

The simple and rustic charm of the cake is so beautiful! The native buds, sliced wood and hessian give such a wonderful earthy feel, and all done is such a refined way!

The dessert table was filled with sweet treats created from recipes from family and friends. A great personal touch!

Kim handmade the little up-side-down nests hanging in the tree above. They look so sweet among the fairy lights!

The outside area was marked off with a string of bunting which contained messages from their guests.

Congratulations Kim and Chris! May your lives together be filled with love, joy, friendship and creativity!

A big thank you to Janine from Janine Kaye Photography for sharing these images with us!

Captured by Jonas Peterson, I'm sure this wedding will be featured by many more blogs and magazines. Again, Jonas' work captures every moment with love and clarity.
