Engagement Mexican Cake Trio by Cake Ink
A gorgeous Mexican bird bunting from super-talented NZ design house Citta Design was the inspiration behind this fresh and summery cake table put together for a recent outdoor engagement fiesta by the amazing duo of Portobello Bride Member Cake Ink. Three coordinated cakes decorated with hand made large sugar roses and rustic piping were the focal point against an airy aqua and white backdrop. Refreshing iced tea accompanied the rich slices of cake. Guests took home a bar of hand made soap which were wrapped in beautiful floral fabric, held together with custom matching labels as a party favour.
The colours are so spectacular - so fresh, bright, Summery and festive!
The simple styling really lets the patterns and colours sing!
Gorgeous!
[The bird bunting, tea towel and napkins are all from Citta Design]
What a fun, but stylish way to celebrate an engagement! This could also be a great theme for a Bridal Show, Couple's Shower, or even a rehearsal dinner!
A big thank you to Janelle and Samone for sharing their amazing work with us! See more of their gorgeous styling on the Cake Ink Blog.

Dessert at Tiffany's!
Juli from Sweet! Cupcakes & Treats, a favourite from our Boutique Wedding Guide has been at it again!
Here Juli explains the inspiration behind her magnificent dessert buffet shown below
"The movie ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ is iconic among the modern generation for not only its stars, but also its tilt at true love - the love between Holly and Fred that is only confirmed by seeing the final, pivotal, alley scene.
We end the movie with Holly and Fred embracing and true love winning out - but that leaves the unanswered question of ‘what happened next?’."
I think Ms Golightly would have stood in front of this delightful spread for some time in her little black Givenchy dress and pearls pondering over which cake to try first.

A Sweet Exclusive!
The newest member of our Boutique Wedding Guide is the talented Juli Sterten-Gill of Sweet! Cupcakes and Treats.
Juli has sent us an exclusive look at her Spring/Summer campaign for 2010/11. As one of our lovely readers suggested, this cake is certainly fit for Cinderella. I love the Photography by Stewart Leishman Photography, and Juli styled the shoot herself. Not only is she one of our most talented cake designers but she can style a dessert buffet to perfection.

Francesca's Wish List-Sweet Libertine Oscar Wedding Cake
Tish from Sweet Libertine Cakes designed this elegant creation. I love everything about it, the pretty ruffles and elegant colours and exquisite orchid with crystal detail.

Tish takes inspiration from nature, her surroundings and her keen eye for design when creating her delectable masterpieces. And in this case it was from an Oscar De La Renta gown from the Spring Bridal 2009 collection.

'With an eye for design and a tenacity for sugar,Sweet Libertine Cakes strives to make beautiful and individual Artisan cakes for your special day'
