Peony Melbourne presents The Perfume Workshop

Peony Melbourne is holding a really beautiful event in conjunction with Tommi Sooni at the Lyall Hotel in South Yarra on Saturday 27th March. The Perfume Workshop will begin at 2pm until 4.30pm, followed by drinks and canapés in the cocktail lounge at the front of the hotel.

What makes this event so wonderful is:

The objective of the perfume workshop is to educate and inform participants in a relaxed manner on the wonders of perfume.

Participants will learn the history of modern perfumery, the different perfume families and perfume terminology/language will be explained.  Practical comparisons using raw materials both natural and synthetic will be undertaken by participants.

Those participating can also expect to experience famous and rare perfumes.

Ultimately, participants will leave with enough knowledge to make informed, confident choices with their future perfume purchases

The fee for the workshop is $195 per person – with a maximum of 18 attendees.  This includes comprehensive notes, luxury sample bag and refreshments during and after the workshop has concluded.

To book please phone Jill at Peony Melbourne  on 03 9882 0662.

The Boutique Wedding Guide Introduces...Fleurage

We feel really lucky to have Fleurage as a member of The Boutique Wedding Guide. This beautiful perfumery was one of the reasons I began Portobello Bride. I came across their previous boutique, which was housed in the most quaint art deco building nestled amongst beautiful apartments in the heart of South Yarra, and I knew I had to find a way to connect brides and fellow industry members with special and unique businesses like Fleurage .
Emma Leah is the stylish perfumer behind Fleurage, with her unique style and her passion for producing natural perfumes using only botanical ingredients; Emma ensures every client a luxurious and indulgent experience when choosing or creating a perfume for them.

I met Emma and her partner Robert in October at their fabulous new premises off Chapel Street Prahran. They blew me away with their passion and experience in perfume and scent.

The philosophy behind Fleurage is the "creation of a beautiful life", which they provide through every one of their natural perfumes, lotions, creams and pampering bathing range, which are the foundation of your scent layering ritual.
The Fleurage packaging is reminiscent of the Art Deco era. Every product is packaged to communicate the values of quality and beauty a hollywood actress would have expected in the glamorous 1940's.
Fleurage are famous the world over for their specialised perfume making, which you can experience yourself by visiting their online store, the perfumery, or even better, one of their workshops. The perfect event for your bridal party, your girlfriends can create the perfume you wear on your wedding day, or like a couple are doing at the moment, you and your fiancee could create your own scent for each other. I couldn't think of anything more special than having a couture scent made for your wedding day.

A note from Kim...Scentsational!

I had the pleasure of meeting Jill Timms of Peony Melbourne last week and experience one of her wedding perfume consultations.

Jill uses the renowned Michael Edward's fragrance database, which ensures the choice of perfume is ideal for the bride on her most special day.
The entire experience was really interesting and really lovely. I felt like I had stepped into a little piece of Paris, with shelves filled with the most beautiful bottled potions and perfumes, books on fashion and style, scented candles, pretty soaps and at this time of year the most decadent christmas display I have ever seen, think a Harry Potter christmas with white owls and peacocks-Divine.

I recommend any bride in Melbourne that is still choosing a Perfume; for her wedding day, or like me as a signature scent to make a time to use this wonderful service. Even better Jill provides a stylish pre-wedding celebration for the girls, where they all receive their own individual Perfume consultation and goodie bag whilst enjoying some bubbly and canapés. I couldn't think of a more special way to celebrate your up coming wedding with your closest girlfriends, or even as a special evening with your mum would be lovely.

For my consultation Jill helped me find the perfect scent for me. When I smelt it for the first time it actually made me feel emotions I didn't know existed-Jill advised thats a good thing. So my new signature scent is Gin Fizz by Lubin, a perfume that was originally introduced in 1955 and relaunched in June of this year. I love the story behind my new perfume just as much as I love the scent.

In 1955, a star captivated the crowds: appearing in films by Alfred Hitchcock and John Ford, playing alongside James Stewart and Cary Grant, Grace Kelly embodied the very elegance of America. Her mysterious charm even captured the heart of a Prince. It was in honour of her extraordinary beauty that Henri Giboulet created a perfume for Lubin which marked the decade, a very chic perfume, sparkling and fresh, evoking the cocktail in fashion that year in the ‘American bars’ of Paris, Gin Fizz. From Lubin - Paris
Peony Melbourne is dedicated to the world of boutique fragrances, from Annick Goutal, Lubin, Miller Harris and Diptyque. Visit Jill's beautiful store at 107 Auburn Road Hawthorn and be inspired by the wonderful ways perfume can enrich your every day life. I know mine has, any one for some Gin Fizz!
